After the war, he and Onnie returned to Texas, where he completed his Bachelor's degree in Mathematics. He then entered into a career as a geophysicist with Shell Oil Company which spanned 35 years. He was very active in the Catholic Church and installed as a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus in Spring, Texas. Haskell and Onnie were married for almost 65 years.
