BELCHER -- V. L. "STRETCH" BELCHER. Stretch was born August 10, 1925, in Cambridge, OH, and died at home on November 14, 2008. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughters, Diane of Richardson, TX, Carol and Barbara of Albuquerque; son, Matthew of Albuquerque; and six grandchildren Hagan and Tanar Dial, Dylan, Savannah, and Teig Morgan and Chloe Pacheco. Stretch served with the 1st Marine Division during World War II. He attended Graduate School at UNM. He coached basketball at Estancia High School and was principal at Vaughn High School. Stretch was one of the founders of New Mexico Savings and Loan Association. Graveside Services will be held on Friday, November 21, 2008 at 1:00 p.m., at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe.
