LOPEZ -- Nelly E. Lopez, age 89, of Albuquerque, passed away Sunday October 12, 2008. She was born on January 10, 1919 in Merida, Mexico to Sergio and Dominga Arana. Nelly married Marcos Lopez on July 15, 1942 in Mexico. They moved to New York in 1950, and also lived in New Jersey before residing in Albuquerque for the past 30 years. Marcos preceded her in death in June of 1990 after 48 years of marriage. Nelly enjoyed gardening, loved to travel, and especially loved her desserts. She was fiercely dedicated and loyal to her family. She is survived by her daughters, Anna Walsh, Patricia Pistorio, Lucia Lutz all of Albuquerque, Josephine Forbes and her husband Dale of Mountainair, and Sr. Maria Lopez, PBVM of Kingston, NY; 14 grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren; and three great-great- grandchildren. Nelly was preceded in death by several brothers and sister. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 17, 2008 at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum Chapel, followed by Burial. Visitation with the family will begin at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 16, 2008.
