WILLIAMS -- Sherri Williams passed away on September 1, 2008 at home in Albuquerque after a valiant battle with cancer. She was born to Mary Margaret and John Charles Blissard on March 30, 1943, in Washington D.C. Sherri graduated in 1959 from Highland High School in Albuquerque, and from New Mexico State University in 1963 with a BA in Psychology. Sherri met Bill Williams at a school mixer dance in 1960, they were married on February 16, 1963, and have been soul mates for over 45 years. A son, Bryan, was born on May 22, 1969, and currently lives in Klamath Falls, OR. With Bill working for an oil company, several moves were made, so Sherri became pretty adept at being flexible both with family life and her work. Sherri settled on a career in Real Estate as a salesman and later as a Loan Officer and Mortgage Underwriter. Most of Bill's working career was spent in California. During two job assignments in Bakersfield, Sherri took up motorcycle riding, camping in the nearby mountains, and bought a Corvette. While living in Ventura, Sherri and Bill went sailing with a neighbor and both fell in love with the ocean. Three sailboats later, Sherri and Bill retired early and left Ventura harbor in February 1996 on a 44-foot sailboat on their great adventure. Sherri loved the ocean and meeting people from various countries they visited. This love affair lasted 12 years as they explored Mexico, the many countries in the South Pacific, the Indian Ocean, the South Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal and back up the Pacific Ocean, completing their circumnavigation at Mazatlan, Mexico. About two years ago they bought a motor home and started land cruising -- no more tent camping! Sherri was quiet and considerate and loved helping people. She laughed easily and often. We will miss her bright smile and cheerful personality. Sherri is survived by her husband, Bill; son, Bryan; sisters: Jan Blackman and husband Jac; Charlene Baker and husband Bob; and numerous nieces and nephews. Reflections Funerals & Life Celebrations is handling the cremation arrangements. A Memorial will be held at 12 p.m., on Sunday, September 14, 2008 at the High Desert Center For Spiritual Living, 5621 Paradise Blvd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations made to a charity of your choice.
