BAKER -- Shirley J. Baker, 72, a resident of Albuquerque for the past 25 years, passed away on September 4, 2008. Mrs. Baker was born on May 8, 1936 to John "Oscar" and Daisy Mae (Crisp) Rose of Yampa, CO. She grew up in Arkansas but had enjoyed visiting her Aunt Lucy's ranch in Finger Rock, CO. She will be remembered for her love for her family and devotion to them. Her family fondly remembers how Mrs. Baker would love to entertain them with her imaginative stories. She enjoyed fishing and proudly proclaimed that if she baited your fishing hook you were guaranteed to catch a fish. At one time, Mrs. Baker took a cake decorating course and soon became well known for her delicious homemade and beautifully decorated cakes. She, also, enjoyed gardening, flowers, and the birds that resided in her backyard. She was an excellent seamstress, making her children's clothes as well as matching garments for their dolls. She was very devoted to her brothers and sisters. Mrs. Baker is survived by her husband, Paul K. Baker; daughters, Gail Henry and husband, Lyle, of Craig, CO, and Lori Cave and her husband, Jimmy, of Farmington, NM; Gail and Lori's father, Jack Bowlus; grandchildren, Levi Henry, Chelsea Branson, Tawnie Cave, and Jacy Cave; siblings, Lorraine (Robert) Rossi, Bernadine (Conward) Farris, Clarice (Virgil) Marshall, Donna Lea (Bill) Ragland, Lila (Carol) Ward, Nancy (Glen) Anderson, Glenda (Bruce) Oetting, J.D. (Alice) Rose, Max (Korky) Rose, and George Rose; numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Daisy Mae Rose, and a very dear Aunt Lucy Marshall. Cremation has taken place and she will be laid to rest in Yampa, CO. Memorial Graveside Services will be announced at a later time.
