SMOLL -- Lucille W. Smoll, 90, peacefully passed away July 6, 2008 after a courageous struggle with heart disease. Born in Little Rock, AR on June 24, 1918. Lucille's parents moved to Alamagordo, NM in 1929, where she and her brother, Wendel graduated from Alamagordo High. Lucille went on to the University of New Mexico and received a Bachelor of Sociology degree. She married Leonard Smoll in 1943 and had her only child, Russell in 1946. For many years she taught kindergarten along with being a homemaker, avid golfer, bridge player, and enthusiastic volunteer at schools, her church, and sporting events. In her later years she spent much of her time with her friends at many of the Pueblos in New Mexico, especially Santa Ana where she enjoyed helping develop their Co-op. As an active member of the Harwood United Methodist Church, she drove senior citizens to church and errands until she was 86. She had a positive attitude and steady faith, which was inspiring to many around her. Applying her faith to all aspects of her daily life was obvious to those that know her well. Lucille was preceded in passing by her husband of 63 years, Leonard A. Smoll; and her brother, Wendel Williams. She is survived by her son, Russell and his wife Cielito; her grandchildren, Zack Smoll, Abbey Smoll, Becca Pace, Ivan Smoll, Joey Smoll, and Shelli Smoll. She was very close to her brothers' children Danny Williams, Diane Williams, and Cookie May See, all of Albuquerque, NM. Our family's thanks to Hospice of the Valley caregivers and special caregiver. Renate Swedrowska of Queen Creek, AZ. Memorial Service will be given at 1:00 p.m. July 19, 2009 at Harwood United Methodist Church.
