BOLDEN -- Alma Bolden. On May 22, 2008, Alma Bolden passed away in Austin, Texas after a brief illness at the age of 83. Alma had moved to Austin, Texas in 2003 with her daughter, grand-daughters and son-in-law. Prior to moving to Austin, Texas, Alma had lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico since 1976 and was an east coast transplant. Alma was born on December 19, 1924, in Manhattan, New York and grew up in Harlem, New York along with her sister Iris. On February 13, 1966, she married Joseph Joel Bolden who preceded her in passing in June 1996. During her lifetime Alma held various secretarial and book keeping positions and eventually as a type-setter for two newspapers. Prior to moving to Albuquerque, Alma worked for the Burlington County Times in Willingboro, New Jersey. Upon arriving in Albuquerque in 1976, Alma began working for the Albuquerque Journal on the evening shift for 5 years and then eventually worked on the day shift for the Albuquerque Tribune until her retirement in 1991. Alma is survived by her son, Joel Bolden of Los Angeles, California; daughter, Dyann Ledford; granddaughters, Vanessa Nicole Ledford and Raquel Marie Ledford and son-in-law, William Ledford of Austin, Texas. Sister, Iris Bailey and brother-in-law, Arthur Bailey. Nieces', Darlyne Bailey and Dawn Bailey. Alma was Great Aunt to Tara Claire Bailey. Alma's Funeral and interment Service will be held on May 31, 2008, at 1:00 p.m., at St. Mark's on the Mesa Episcopal Church, 431 Richmond Pl NE, 87106. (505) 262-2484.
