HERNANDEZ -- Virginia ( Virgie) A. Hernandez passed away May 21, 2008. Virginia was 88. Virginia was born on Leap Year, February 29, 1920. She was preceded in death by her husband, Max G. Hernandez., they celebrated 64 years of marriage in 1999, and also by her son, Dan M. Hernandez. She is survived by sons, Salamon, (Sal) Hernandez, Albert Hernandez, Arthur Hernandez, Michael (Anna) Hernandez, Ross Hernandez, Martin Hernandez, all of Albuquerque, and Andrew Hernandez of St. Louis, MO; by her daughters, Theresa (Larry) Ramirez, Cathy (Mike) Mirabal of Albuquerque, also by a special daughter, Deborah Ann Hernandez; two special sons, Filomeno Martinez and Mike Montano; 18 grandchildren; 21 great -grandchildren; and two great- great- grandchildren. Virginia was born and raised in Old Town the daughter of Pioneer residents, John Apodaca and Juanita P. Apodaca. Virginia was a caring, devoted, loving mother and grandmother, raising her ten children and helping raise most of her grandchildren. She will be missed by them all. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 23, 2008 at French Mortuary at 1111 University Blvd NE. Visitation will be between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Immaculate Conception Church at 619 Copper NW, Downtown, at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2008. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Christopher Ramirez, Vincent Ramirez, Matthew Mirabal, Shad Hernandez, Anthony Hernandez and Mike Hernandez Jr. NOTE: Virginia's sixth son, Michael, was omitted from Thursday's obituary in error. Apologies to Michael and Anna and his family. Funeral arrangements are being handled by French Mortuary located on University NE.
