He married Laura Stadler in 1944, and after the war George and Laura began raising a family in Indiana. In 1955 the family made its way to Albuquerque, NM, where George worked for 27 years at Sandia National Laboratories. In his retirement he was active at St. Paul Lutheran Church, and he was a volunteer for SCORE. His life is chronicled in his autobiography Upon the Hearth. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Laura; and his children, George A.
