SCOTT -- Ellis Bryan Scott 79, a resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, May 2, 2008, of cancer. Born February 26, 1929 in Pryor, Oklahoma and he grew up in Grainola, the only son of Robert and Elizabeth Scott. He played basketball for Eastern Oklahoma Junior College and then transferred to New Mexico A & M (NMSU). His NMSU team was inducted into the school's hall of fame in 2000. He served two years in the military and after discharge, he continued his education. He was a true Aggie, earning his Bachelor's, Master's and Doctorate's degrees in education from that institution. He was chosen as an Outstanding Centennial Alumnus, for the College of Education at NMSU in 1988. It was in college that he met and married his wife of fifty-two years, Shirley Ann Earhart Scott. They went on to start their careers teaching grades 1-8 in a two room school in Mayhill, NM. He taught in Weed, NM while coaching a six-man football team, later becoming high school principal in Dexter, NM and then the Superintendent. He would remain in education all his working life serving as Superintendent of Schools in Bloomfield, Farmington, Hobbs, and Kirtland Central. Not only did he provide leadership in schools, he joined civic organizations in each town and made wonder friends in each community. He was a life long member of the United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of B.P.O.E. He spent most of his retirement in Albuquerque playing golf with his friends at Albuquerque Country Club. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; son, Steven Ellis; daughter, Donette Wagner, all of Albuquerque; daughter, Dacia Scott Roberts and husband, Rick of San Antonio, TX; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Roberts, Chad Wagner and wife, Julie, and Ellis (E.J.) Roberts; and two great-grandchildren, Alexandria and Koen Wagner. He leaves behind many other loved family members and friends. Memorial Services will be held Monday, May, 2008, 3:30 p.m., at Albuquerque's Central United Methodist Church, 1615 Copper NE.
