IRELAND -- James E. "Jimmy" Ireland passed peacefully from this life April 1, 2008, surrounded by family and friends at his home in Albuquerque. Born in Idaho on November 22, 1937, to Dermit and Dorothy Ireland, Jimmy graduated from High school in Oakdale, CA. He served in Korea with the U.S. Army at Anchor Hill, and was a police officer for many years in California. Jimmy was a talented sign painter, fine artist, and cartoonist who encouraged many to explore their own creative talents. Jimmy is survived by his children, Marlene Mowry, Texas; Sidney Rovnak and husband, John, Florida; and James of California; step-daughters, Holly and Kristen; grandchildren, Jolene, Samantha, Ryan, and Tyler, and Elena; great-grandchildren, Serenity and Zachery; sister, Sandra Pattee; and brother, Ricky Nelson, both of California; sister-in law, Sookie Ireland, of Washington, brother-in-law, Ron Cox, of California; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jimmy is also survived by close friends Mike, Andrew, Nadine, Wendell, and Darrell, who generously gave of their time to minister to him during his illness. The family will forever be grateful to them and Presbyterian Hospice for the love you showed to Jimmy. Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife Barbara; his parents; brother, David Ireland; and sister, Sharon Cox.
