ALVAREZ -- George T. Alvarez, 83, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, January 20, 2008. George served in the first division Marine Corps during WWII as a scout and sniper. Upon return to Albuquerque, he became an auto body technician. He retired from Harold's Body Repair with previous work history at Galles Cadillac, Frontier Ford, and Ed Black Chevrolet. George's skills were endless; he loved fishing and drawing as his hobbies. He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Clifton-Alvarez; two sons, George A. Alvarez and wife, Debra, and Victor Alvarez; two sisters, Marcella Lopez and husband, John, and Pauline Villa and husband, Al; five step-children, Peter Klein, Venessa Klein-Doner, Brad, Mike and Jeff Clifton; and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends he met through the years; and his puppies. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at The Shrine of St Bernadette Catholic Church, 1800 Martha NE, on Monday, January 28, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. Inurnment will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Animal Humane Association of New Mexico 615 Virginia SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108.
