ORONA -- TONY It is my sad duty to report that Tony Orona has passed away. Dad was one of eight children, born on June 12, 1944 in La Costancia, New Mexico to Joe B. and Melinda Orona. As a small child he grew up in Oakland, CA and returned to New Mexico where as a teenager he raised cattle and worked at Wilson's grocery store. Out of high school, he trained with Braniff Airlines and eventually landed a job with the FBI during college. He was married for many years and had one daughter, Carol June, who with his son-in-law, Michael, and grandchildren, Dante and Sophia, were the joys of his life -- as we love and adore him too. His career with the FBI took him many places including the Legal Attache in Mexico City and the Los Angeles Division in California, settling in Albuquerque where he became the Division's Administrative Officer. He traveled throughout the US and Puerto Rico on inspections and was instrumental in acquiring the current Albuquerque FBI Division Building. Dad retired after 37 1/2 years of service to become Director of Sales for Panorama Homes, where, as he put it, 'he worked for good people to build quality homes for good people'. Dad had a ball during his many travels throughout Europe, South America, Canada and the U.S. with his friends and family. He loved laughter and beauty in all things and was forever the optimist. Dad left this world early January 12, 2008 and will be greatly missed. Thank you for your visits during his illness, Dad commented that he never realized how many good friends he made, he was truly fortunate. A Memorial service for Dad will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary-Lomas Chapel. A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2008 at Church of the Risen Savior, 7701 Wyoming NE, at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
