WENZLER -- Raymond E. Wenzler, 83, a resident of Albuquerque since 1971, passed away on January 3, 2008. Mr. Wenzler retired from the United States Army as a Major, Medical Service Corps in New York in 1963 after serving his country for 21 years. He served in Europe during World War II, and the Korean War from 1950-1951 with the 2nd Infantry Division where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. His later assignments were at Ft. Lewis and Madigan General Hospital in Washington State, Ft. Knox, KY, Germany, and St. Albans Naval Hospital in New York. He graduated from Brooklyn Tech High School in Brooklyn, NY in 1943; received a BS from Long Island University in 1962, and an MS from St. John's University in New York in1964. After retirement from the US Army, he was a high school teacher and administrator at several secondary schools on Long Island, a stockbroker with Dean Witter (now Morgan Stanley) in New York and Albuquerque. In 1974 he was employed by the Albuquerque National Bank (now Bank of America) until 1990 when he retired as Sr. Vice-President & Mgr. of the Investment Division. He was also a retired Adjunct Professor Emeritus from Webster University. In 1994 he retired from the board of directors of Union Savings Bank where he had been a member and chairman. He was an active member of Our Lady of the Annunciation Church and the DAV. He is survived by his wife, Cenia, to whom he has been married for over 61 years; two sons, Joseph of Kennesaw, GA and Charles of Scottsdale, AZ; a sister, Marie Maggio of Trumbull, CT; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A Rosary will be recited at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Albuquerque at 6:00 p. on Tuesday, January 8, 2008. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Annunciation Church, 2532 Vermont NE, Albuquerque on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 with Father Bennett J. Voorhies officiating. Interment will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery with full military honors.
