RICHMOND -- Donald R., B.S. M.S. Ph.D. died Jan.1, 2008, 8 months after being diagnosed with esophageal cancer. He chose to live his remaining life without chemo or radiation. Dr. Richmond was employed by Lovelace' Foundation for Education and Research for 32 years after which he became a consultant. While at Lovelace he directed classified investigational work for the DOD and DOE. A number of servicemen alive today owe their lives to the dedicated group from Lovelace Foundation. Early on, their results were shared and utilized by the NATO countries with whom the U.S. collaborated. Surviving in the immediate family are his wife, Jeanne; son Donald with wife DawnMarie; daughter Susan Schmit with husband, Lucien; son Robb with fiancee MaryLee; a sister, June Robbins of CA. and a brother, Bruce, of N.J. If anyone so chooses, a donation to Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Rd, Kanab Utah 84741-5000 may be made. It is a no-kill shelter for all animals. We are grateful to the Vista Care Hospice at Lovelace Medical Center for the outstanding care they provided . Cremation has taken place per Don's wishes. Daniels Family Mortuary was in charge of final arrangements.
