ROBERTS -- Kenneth "Ken" Pike- Ken lost his struggle with his health concerns on Thursday, October 11, 2007. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Jane, living in Montebello. He is also survived by his sister, Ruth Ann Jones, and husband, Mack of Columbia, MO, and three special nieces; Margaret Shull of Warrensburg, MO; Elizabeth Anderson, of Shaker Heights, OH; and Bronwen Ashburn of Johnson City, TN. Born in Bloomington, IN on July 21, 1921 to Byron D. and Laura Ann Pike Roberts. He lived in Fairfield, IA until 1930 at which time he moved to Las Vegas, NM and in 1950 he moved to Albuquerque. During World War II he was an officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve and instructed cadets in acrobatic flying for several years. On graduation from Coe College, Cedar Rapids, IA in 1942, he created and funded four scholarships for young men who were interested in science. Ken had graduated with a Physics Major and a Math Minor. Following graduation and his move to Albuquerque he entered into his business life of Insurance and Real Estate. Ken was active in the First Presbyterian Church of Albuquerque, helping to create The Endowment Foundation of the Church. Ken was also very active in the Shriners, holding many of the offices and being Master of Ceremonies for about 50 years. He was also elected to the House of Representatives for New Mexico in 1962. A major hobby has been his interest in oil and watercolor painting as well as sculpture. For six years he was invited to show his sculptures in a national show in Loveland, CO. If you so desire, in lieu of flowers, contributions would be appreciated for The Endowment Foundation of the First Presbyterian Church of Albuquerque, 215 Locust NE, 87102 or to the Shriners Hospital for Children at 3160 Geneva Street, Los Angeles, CA 90020. Cremation has taken place and interment will follow in due course at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Albuquerque, 215 Locust NE, 87102. French Mortuary is in charge.
