MARIETTA -- Elizabeth "Buffy" Marietta, 53, a resident of Lake Oswego, OR, died July 4, 2007. She is survived by her son, Hunter Hetfeld of Camus, WA; mother, Constance Dempsey of Santa Barbara, CA; father, Walter Damler and his wife, Barbara of Tucson, AZ; brothers, Fritz Damler and wife, Mari of Wisconsin and Bahamas, Chris Dempsey of Santa Fe, NM; and sister, Carla Ward of Sandia Park, NM; as well as numerous step-siblings and cousins and aunts scattered through out the country. She was born February 28, 1954 in Oshkosh, WI and was raised in California and New Mexico. After graduating from the University of New Mexico she worked for the Department of Energy in Albuquerque. Following two years of service in the Peace Corps in Bulgaria, Ms. Marietta moved to the Portland, OR area four years ago to pursue her interests in acting and real estate. Devoted to her son and family, Buffy made friends easily and touched many lives with laughter, good humor and a zeal for adventure. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held in New Mexico in the fall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local Animal Humane Society.
