BACCHUS -- Stephen P. Bacchus, 62, a resident of Albuquerque since 1947, died peacefully in his sleep Thursday, May 17, 2007, from metastatic pancreatic cancer. Steve is survived by his wife, Jane Mullins Bacchus; his children, Brett and Claudia Bacchus and Scott and Erin Bacchus; his mother, Louise Bacchus; his brothers, Bill and Mary and Charley and Charlene; sisters-in-law and their families, Marla Kay and Byrl Blount and Linda Christ; his nieces, Barbara Blount, Marjorie Goldstein, Janalee Barnard and Nina Lussow; his nephews, Casey and Kate Christ and Travis and Coleen Christ; his great-nieces, Avery, Sarah, Rachel, Tasha, Cali, and Caroline; and his great-nephew, Devon. He was preceded in death by his father, W.M. Bacchus. Steve graduated from Highland High School in 1962, from UNM with a BBA in 1966 and an MBA in 1968. He was an outstanding basketball player at Highland and went on to play for the Lobos for two years. While at UNM, Steve served on the Student Council and was a member of Sigma Chi, Vigilantes, Chakaa, Blue Key and Who's Who. Steve worked for New York Life since 1977. He was a member of the Albuquerque Rotary Club, past president of EAGA and a member of the UNM Alumni Letterman's Assn. Steve was on the UNM Alumni Board from 1999-2005 and served as president of the Association in 2003-2004. He was a kind and loving son, husband, father and brother. Steve was a devout Christian. He was a charter member of Sandia Presbyterian Church. Memorial Services will be held on Monday, May 21, 2007, 11:00 a.m., at Sandia Presbyterian Church, 10704 Paseo del Norte NE, with Pastor Dewey Johnson officiating. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jim Baxter, Mike Danoff, Ted Garrett, Klint Hall, Ron Harris, Robert John, Terry Johnson, Jerry Jones, Barbara Kerl, Scott Mitchell, J.T. Richards, Lanny Rominger, Lee Trussell and Donnie Kaufman.
