JAMES -- Victor James, 98, a resident of Albuquerque and formerly of New York City, passed away Friday, April 20, 2007. He was born in Rochester, NY, the oldest of three children. Victor grew up and went to school in New York City. He met and married Carrie Greene in 1944 prior to serving in World War II with the 11th Armored Divison. His tank unit participated in the capture and occupation of Germany. After returning to New York City Victor went to work in the motion picture camera industry. By 1967 he had risen to vice-president of Arriflex Corporation. After his retirement he and his wife, Carrie traveled extensively. Victor was a talented photographer and documented their travels. After the death of his wife, Carrie, he moved to Albuquerque in 1996 to be close to his son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Donna James and grandchildren. Victor enjoyed playing bridge and cribbage. He joined a local bridge club. He was fond of chamber music and looked forward to the concert season. Victor met his dear friend, Myrtle Hollander-Vincent at a local concert. Victor was always very politically conscience and endeavored in his youth and throughout his life to improve the lives of others. He volunteered to mentored children in reading skills while in living in New York City. Victor is survived by his dear friend, Myrtle Hollander-Vincent; his son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Donna James; his grandchildren, Denise James, Julie James-Griego, Anthony James, and Sandra Kehoe; his grandsons-in-law, Gilbert Griego and Patrick Kehoe; and his great-grandchildren, Jordan Schurter, Jessica Griego, Joseph Griego, and Charlotte Kehoe. His grandson, Michael James, predeceased him in March. A private Memorial Service will held Sunday, April 29, 2007. Victor will be laid to rest in New York City. In lieu of flowers donations to the American Heart Association are requested.
