GUZMAN -- Jennie C. Guzman entered her eternal rest at her home on April 21, 2007. She was a decedent of the first territorial governor of New Mexico Luis Armijo and proud to claim she was an eighth generation New Mexican. She was born in Albuquerque to Luisa Armijo Chavez and Edwardo T. Chavez. She was preceded in her passing by her parents; her husband, Manuel F. Guzman; her brothers, Edward E. Chavez and Julian Chavez; her sisters, Crucita Montoya, Aurelia Trujillo, and Lucille Chavez; and her granddaughter, Cristina M. Guzman. She is survived by her children, Manny F. Guzman of Albuquerque, Adolph and Geri Guzman of Albuquerque, and John and Helen Guzman of Hobbs, NM; ten grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Jennie was a woman of faith and a strong believer of her convictions. She was known for her New Mexico State Fair Blue Ribbon baking and her delightful entertaining of friends and family. A cookbook, "Biscochitos for my Hitos", was written in her honor by her granddaughter, Laura Cavazos. Jennie was a devout and faithful member of Immaculate Conception Parish all her life and will be lovingly remembered as the Matriarch of the Guzman Family. Rosary will be recited Wednesday, April 25, 2007, 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE; friends may visit one hour prior to the Rosary. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, 619 Copper NW, Thursday, April 26, 20007, 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Curt Rose, Andy Ariaz, Darrell Guzman, Brian Guzman, John Guzman, Jr.r and Ryan Ariaz. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the CRISTINA GUZMAN BILINGUAL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND, at 326 W. Rojo Drive, Hobbs, NM.
