REED -- Jane Elizabeth Rodgers Reed, 78, a resident of Albuquerque for 52 years, passed away suddenly on March 16, 2007 in Albuquerque. She is survived by her only child, John Benjamin Reed III of Pueblo, CO; two first cousins in Mississippi, Don and Jim Paterson; and ex-husband, John Reed of Palm Springs, CA. Ms. Reed was preceded in death by her parents in Mississippi. Jane came to Albuquerque in 1955 with her husband and young son. During the 50's and 60's she enjoyed being a mom and a wife and she enjoyed the activities and social events that went along with being the wife of a prominent architect. When Mr. and Mrs. Reed were divorced in 1971, Jane went back to school and got her degree in sociology from UNM. During the second half of the 70's and the 80's she worked for the State of New Mexico as a case worker. She retired from the State in 1990. Jane was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority, the North Valley and Palo Duro Senior Centers, and the North Campus Neighborhood Association. She also enjoyed gardening, birdwatching, camping, reading, writing, listening to music, and the sunsets over her beloved golf course across from her house. A Memorial Service will be held at French's Mortuary, 1111 University NE, on Friday, April 6, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. The Service is open to anyone who wishes to attend.
