WILSON -- F. Stanley Wilson, age 82, passed away on March 27, 2006 in Albuquerque, NM. He was born on September 6, 1924 to Frederick and Margaret Wilson in Pueblo, CO. Stanley served his nation in the United States Army Field Artillery from 1943 until 1946 in the Pacific Theatre. He worked for US West for 36 years and retired in 1982 as a Regional Planning Manager for Colorado and Wyoming. Stanley was very active as an adult leader with the Boys Scouts of America for 25 years in several capacities and was awarded scouting's highest adult recognition; the Silver Beaver, in 1970 for outstanding service as a Scoutmaster in Broomfield, CO. He loved to fish and camp in the mountains of Colorado with his family. He was a skilled woodworker and there wasn't anything he couldn't fix. Stan had a wonderful sense of humor and quick wit. He was also an avid fan of the Denver Broncos. Stan and Carolyn moved to Albuquerque in 1987 to be near their daughter and four of their five grandsons and also to live in a more moderate climate. In 1990 Stan volunteered as a greeter at the Rio Grande Zoo and later that year became a trained docent at the Zoo. He continued as a Zoo Docent and an Aquarium Docent until his death. The Mayor appointed him to the Aquatic Park Advisory committee in 1991 and he served until 1994 when he was appointed to the Biological Park Advisory Board where he served 2 years. In 1993 Stan founded the Albuquerque Aquarium Association, the fund raising group for the new aquarium being built. He served on the board of directors from 1993 until 1998. He was the elected President from 1993 though 1996 and was appointed an Honorary Life member of the Albuquerque Aquarium Association. He wished to be remembered by two words "he cared". Stan is survived by his wife, Carolyn of 64 years of marriage, whom he married in Raleigh, NC. He has two children; Rick Wilson and Kristin Risley, and their five grandchildren.
