HERBST -- Kenneth R. Herbst, 80 and a resident of Rio Rancho, died February 16, 2007. Born May 7, 1926, in Detroit, MI, he is the son of Raymond Herbst and Margaret Knerr Herbst. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol Herbst of Rio Rancho; surviving him are: his children, Carmen McLean of Boone, NC, and Dan Herbst and his wife Kathy of Merritt Island. FL; his sister, Char Rood and her husband Leo of Woodway, TX; sister-in-law, Jean Herbst of Westland, MI; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was a veteran of World War II, serving 1942 to 1945 in the Pacific Theater as a Merchant Marine. He worked as a bricklayer for 22 years, before retiring in 1973.
