EWING -- John Meredith Ewing passed away peacefully on Monday January 29, 2007. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was born on December 8, 1932 in Berkeley, CA. John spent his childhood years in Tucson where he attended the University of Arizona and received a B.A. in Business. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. John married Gail LaBeau in 1953 and eventually moved to Roswell, NM where he raised his family. After 18 years, John moved the family to Albuquerque where he resided for the last 31 years. John retired from Lederle Laboratories in 1993 and maintained very close friendships with his colleagues. He is survived by his wife, Gail; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Kim Ewing; daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Richard Bell; and son and daughter-in-law, Stewart Ewing and Valerie Brier. He is also survived by four grandchildren; Audra Ewing, Wyatt Ewing, Kristen Bell, and Alexandra Ewing; two brothers, Dr. David Ewing and Dr. Russell Ewing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Sue Ewing. Services will be held at St. John's Episcopal Cathedral on Saturday February 3, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. John's sense of humor and strength will be greatly missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved him. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the New Mexico Cancer Center nurses and physicians as well as to Presbyterian Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Presbyterian Hospice, 8300 Constitution NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
