CARLSEN -- Martha S. Carlsen, 88, of Las Cruces, NM, entered eternal life Tuesday, January 30, 2007 surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 18, 1918 in Earl Park, IN to William and Eleanor Carton Simons. During WWII, Mrs. Carlsen did some civilian work in Japan that left her with many fond memories and love for that country. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved to garden, walk, and play bridge. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Ronald M. Carlson of the family home; two sons, Chris Carlsen and wife, Carol of Wyoming and Ronald "Chip" Carlsen and wife, Kim of Las Cruces; one daughter, Cathy Ellsworth and husband, Don of Rio Rancho. Other survivors include four grandchildren, Alicia and Josh Ellsworth and Eric and Tyler Carlsen; as well as four great-grandchildren, Lola and Lily Carlsen and Brendan and Merrik Ellsworth. She was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters, one being her twin sister. Cremation will take place and a Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, February 2, 2007 in San Albino Catholic Church in Mesilla, NM with Monsignor Robert Getz officiating. Inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date in Santa Fe National Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels and Baca's Mimbres Crematory. 527-2222
