RICE -- Betty Ellen Rice, January 20, 2007, complications due to cancer. Born Betty Ellen Birdsall, in Detroit, MI on April 2, 1928. Employed by Mountain Bell for 32 years, retired in 1986. Active in Albuquerque Arts Community for over 4 decades, RGAA original member, and SLMM member and former treasurer. Certified Ombudsman, served local nursing homes through the NM Dept. on Aging. Preceded in death by her two sons, Larry and Jack, Betty is survived by her granddaughter, Melinda Potcher of Albuquerque; two grandsons of Augusta, ME; her sister, Myrna Sweetland of Lake Orion, MI; and two brothers, Victor and Sonny Birdsall; neices and nephews. A Memorial Celebration will be held Saturday, February 10, 2007 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Devonshire Inn and Tea Room. Donations in lieu of flowers to Hospice of the Sandias, or ASPCA.
