SHOWERS -- Carol Lynn Showers passed away on December 19, 2006, of respiratory failure in Albuquerque, NM. She was 82. Carol was born on August 11, 1924, in Partridge, Kansas, to Doss and Dolly White. She was an extremely devoted and beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Carol lived in Los Alamos from 1957 to 1985 where she raised her four children. She then moved to Albuquerque after her husband Bill's retirement. Recently, she fought a courageous battle against lung cancer and had been in remission for one and a half years. Carol was an extraordinary woman who enjoyed life to the fullest. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Orval; and son William Petty. She is survived by her husband, Bill and three daughters, Lee Ann and husband, Ted Waterman, Dea Renfro and Sue and husband, Ron Harper, all of Albuquerque. She also has two stepsons, William Faust and wife, Donna of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and John and wife, Jacque Showers of Hot Springs, Arkansas. Carol is also survived by a sister, Dorothea Hult of Belleville, Kansas, and a brother, Norman White, of Wichita, Kansas. Of special joy were her nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren, all of whom will greatly miss "OMA". A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 12, 2007, at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church in Los Alamos, New Mexico. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to favorite charities.
