SCOTT -- James H.Scott died January 1, 2007 at the age of 79. His passing was peaceful, and came after a long struggle with Parkinson's. "Scotty", as his friends and colleagues called him, led a tremendous life. He had an incredible career at Sandia Labs, was married for 55 years with his beautiful wife June, has three children and seven grandchildren, and has many, many good friends. Jim used to say that there are 4 or 5 really important decision points in life. Getting the best education available, finding a career that is fun and satisfying, choosing the right life partner, saving early, retiring early are all examples of important intersections in one's life. Jim chose all of the right paths. One of Jim's decisions was to retire early. Although he was given offers to consult, he stayed retired. He spend the next 25 years playing tennis 5 days a week, enjoying friends and family, reading, writing poetry, traveling, and just doing whatever he chose. Conchas Lake was one of Jim's favorite places. He has been going there for 45 years. One of Jim's joys was to tinker and fix things around his home at the Lake. His ashes will be scattered there. Jim is survived by his wife, June; son, Steven; daughters, Tracy Good and Shelley Dykes; and seven grandchildren. We will miss him greatly. A gathering for Jim is planned for January 13, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fours Hills Country Club. In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to the YMCA of Central NM, Administration Office, 2403 Menual NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110, or the charity of your choice.
