CHAVEZ -- Charles Chavez, our "leader of the band", our sweetheart, our daddy, our granddaddy; went to be with the Lord on November 27, 2006. He was born on May 31, 1925 in New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufina and Frutoso Chavez; a sister, Dora; niece, Lara; and his beloved grandson, Angelo Eloy. He is survived by his spouse and best friend, of 58 years, Ada; children, Kathleen, Olivia, Claudia, Anna, Barbara, Chuck, Dianne, Dominic, and Leroy; sister, Mary Helen; and numerous in-laws and extended family. He spent 33 years with the U.S. Postal Service and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. In his retirement years he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He touched the lives of many in his life and all who knew Charlie loved him. You will be missed Dad, but know you will always be in our hearts and your legacy will live on in your children. Vaya con Dios. Pallbearers will be Gabe Ulibarri, Robbie Diaz, Miguel Lueras, Cameron Vigil, Alfie Rios, and Aaron Springer. Honorary pallbearers will be his 28 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, November 30, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Anne's Church. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 1, 2006 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Anne's Church. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations may be made to St. Mary's School Fund.
