MCKENZIE -- Karen Dahl McKenzie, 46, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2006 surrounded by her loving family and amidst a host of supportive good friends. Karen was a source of strength and support to her loving husband, Kenneth McKenzie; was tirelessly devoted to and took great pride in her cherished children, Travis, Scarlett, Malcolm, Madeline, and Colin, all of the family home in Encino, NM. She was the beloved daughter of Helen Dahl, Moriarity, NM and will be sorely missed by her sister, Chris Dahl and partner, Gerri Barnhart, Albuquerque, NM; father and mother-in-law, Blevins and Marjorie McKenzie, Tucumcari, NM; sister-in-law, Margorie McKenzie, Tucumcari, NM, her children, Laro, Ray, and Kenna; brothers-in-law, Houston (Laura) McKenzie, Fort Stockton, TX, their children, Sarah and Lydia; John McKenzie, Odessa, TX, his children, Tarrant and Rayanna; aunt and mentor, Katherine Callantine, Belgrade, MT; uncle, Arthur Copeland, Hagerstown, MD; and many cousins throughout Montana and the East Coast. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Dahl and brother-in-law, Douglas McKenzie. Karen was born February 16, 1960 in Albuquerque, NM. She graduated from Highland High School; attended Montana State University for two years and received a BS degree in Biology from the University of New Mexico. She will be missed as an active member of the Order of Eastern Star Sunshine Chapter No. 44, Santa Rosa, NM and the Powder Horn Cowbelles, Santa Rosa/Fort Sumner where she held office and managed the state beef cook-off. Her involvement as a leader and sponsor for the Guadalupe County Los Amigos 4-H Troupe and as a substitute teacher and member of the PTO with the Moriarity Public Schools will also be missed. Bethel United Methodist Church in Moriarity, NM will feel a deep sense of loss of their faithful member, pianist and Sunday school teacher. A potluck Celebration of Karen's Life will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the McKenzie Ranch (I-40, Exit 239, go north, follow signs).
