GANDARA -- Maria N. Gandara, age 94, died Thursday, July 20, 2006 at the home of her daughter, Olga Gandara, with whom she lived for the past 11 years. She was the wife of the late Feliciano P. Gandara and a former resident of Lordsburg, NM where she lived for 50 years prior to her move to Albuquerque. Maria was born in El Paso, TX to the late Filomeno and Hilaria (Barbosa) Limon. She was preceded in death by brothers, Lorenzo, Felipe, Mercedes, Ignacio, Francisco, Gregorio, Luis; and sisters, Juanita, Sr., Maria Josefa, F.C.M., Maria Clara, and Cornelia. She is survived by her sister, Teofila Palacios; and by her four children, Arturo Gandara and his wife, Linda Berg, Maria Olga Gandara, with whom she resided and her fiance, Jerry Craig, Loreto Gandara and her husband, William Hudson and Rogelio Gandara and his wife, Suzan; nieces, Beatrix Sereno and Gloria Ybarra with whom she shared a motherly relationship. Maria also leaves four grandsons and one granddaughter; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker who loved gardening, cooking for her family and friends, and spending time with her children and family. Maria was a devout Roman Catholic and a woman of deep faith. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at 6:30 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, July 26, 2006, at the Aquinas Newman Center, 1815 Las Lomas NE, with the Rev. Andrew J. Pavlak, O.P., Celebrant. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Adrian Gandara, Gabriel Gandara, Rafael Gandara, Daniel Gandara, Jerry Craig, and Pedro S. Pena.
