HELMS -- Audie K. Helms, 79, a resident of Albuquerque for 60 years, died Wednesday, July 5, 2006. Born January 8, 1927 in Jennings, OK. He is survived by his children, Keith Helms, Brenda Gantt and husband, Eddy, Denise Friend and husband, David, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Beau Gantt and wife, Regina, Audie Helms, Willis Johnson and fiance, Melody, Candice Ruggles and husband, Luke, Jennifer Helms and companion, David Montano, Melissa Helms, Ashley Gantt and Travis Friend; seven great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Lloyd Helms of Bixby, OK, Geneva Stark of Eufula, OK, Juanita Adams of Ramona, CA, Marvina Ginn, Melvin Helms, both of Eufula, OK, Leo Helms of Bakersfield, CA and Doug Helms of Bixby, OK; and many other close family and friends. Mr. Helms was preceded in death by his wife Earlene of 48 years; father, Ed Helms; mother, Mable Helms; sister, Loeta McNatt; and brother, Leroy Helms. He was a member of the East Heights Moose Lodge #2241 for 30 years. Audie and Earlene owned A&E Auto Repair for 20 years. He was involved in auto racing for over 25 years, pitting for his daughter, Brenda and son-in-law, Eddy. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Westside Chapel, Friday, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Services will be held Saturday, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Westside Chapel, with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating.
