CHAVEZ -- Marcial Chavez "Marshall", passed away July 1, 2006. A resident of Bosque Farms, he is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughter, Marian Scanland; two grandchildren, Paige and Noah Scanland; other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. Marshall retired as Captain of the Fire Department at Kirtland Air Force Base. He was very active in the Elks Fraternity, having served as Inner Guard, and receiving many commendations from the local and national lodges. Marshall was bestowed with the Honorary Life Membership in 1983 and also honored "Elk of the Year" in 1984. He was Chairman of Entertainment for 11 years, Chairman of Charity for 38 years, and became a member of the prestigious "51ers" in 2004, which was his "greatest accomplishment". Cremation has taken place and private family burial will follow. The family request: Please no flowers, but memorial contributions may be made in Marshall's honor to Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Building Fund, PO Box 10, Peralta, NM. 87042.
