LOPEZ -- Mary Hortencia Lambros Lopez, age 65, a life-long resident of Los Lunas, NM was peacefully called home to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 13, 2006. She was born on March 27, 1941 to the late Louis Lambros and Magdalena Garcia Lambros. Mary was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She was a graduate of Los Lunas High School "Class of 1959". Mary began work with the Midwest New Mexico Community Action Program as a bookkeeper in 1978. After 26 years she retired as Director of the Head Start Program serving families and children of the five counties of Valencia, McKinley, Cibola, Catron, and Socorro. In 2004 Mary began her battle with cancer. She became a strong advocate in the fight against cancer, participating in two separate trial studies with the goal of advancing treatment for women diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild were her pride and joy and they will be forever indebted to her for instilling in them her strong faith in the Lord, love of family, and care for their communities. She was preceded in death by daughter, Monica McConnell; two brothers, Nick Lambros and Steve Lambros; and nephew, David Cox. Mary is survived by her three loving children, Theresa Boyers and her husband, Bruce of Los Lunas, Sarah Baca and her husband, David, Paul and his wife, Michele, and Yolanda Tucker, her niece whom she loved as a daughter, and her husband, Patrick, all of Albuquerque; five granddaughters, Maggie McConnell, Anna Allred and her husband, Ryan, Emily Abbott and her husband, Mark, Melissa Baca, and Jessica Baca; one great-granddaughter, Monica Allred; two sisters, Katherine Cox and her husband, Dellon of Albuquerque, Priscilla DesJardin of Corrales, NM; brother, John Lambros of Kingston, ID; and many loving nieces and nephews. All services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta, NM beginning with a viewing on Friday, June 16, 2006 from 2:30 to 3:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 3:00 p.m. A final visitation will take place on Saturday, June 17, 2006 from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Valencia Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Paul Lopez, Bruce Boyers, David Baca, Patrick Tucker, Matthew Tucker, and Mark Abbott. Honorary Pallbearers will be Louis DesJardin, Steven Lambros, Ryan Allred, and Bill Silva.
