Robert Mel Gomez, Jr., age 41, a resident of Los Lunas, NM, passed away in the early hours of Sunday, June 11, 2006. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He loved spending time with his family and friends racing his #54G sprint car and riding his chopper, with a passion for life and living it on his own terms. He owned and operated Heavy Duty Services, where he was a heavy equipment mechanic and HDS customs where he fabricated custom choppers. He was preceded in death by sister, Rosanna Gomez; maternal grandfather, Patricio Maestas; paternal grandparents, Tachie and Mage Saiz Gomez; aunt, Esther Chavez; and cousin, Alfred Gomez. Robert is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 25 years, Dorothy Gomez; three daughters, Felicia Perea and her husband, Anthony, Andrea Gomez, and Regina Gomez and her partner, Aaron Cordova; grandson, Joseph Robert Cordova, and another grandson expected in July, all of Los Lunas; parents, Robert, Sr. and Patricia Gomez, of Los Lunas; maternal grandmother, Rita Maestas of Los Lunas; father-in-law, Richard Pena and mother-in-law, Sophie Pena, of Springerville, AZ; siblings, Rhonda Salas and her husband, Felix, and their children, April and Dominic, Randy Gomez, and his wife, Rochelle, and their children, Randall and Jacob, and his brother, Ronnie Gomez, all of Los Lunas; and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. Services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at 6:30 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A final visitation will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at San Clemente Catholic Cemetery.
