TAFOYA -- Rocky Raymond Tafoya, 54, passed away on May 27, 2006, after suffering a massive heart attack. This sudden death came as a great shock to everyone who knew him, and he will be greatly missed. Rocky was the eldest son of George Tafoya and Mary Ellen Bierner Tafoya. He was born on December 9, 1951, in Hot Springs, NM, (Truth or Consequences). He graduated from Tucumcari High School in 1969 and served honorably in the New Mexico Army National Guard from November 2, 1969 to October 20, 1977. He went on to attain both his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal justice and MBA in Management Specialization. He was presently employed as a Captain (Shift Commander) at the Albuquerque Regional Correction Center, Cornell Corrections. Rocky dedicated his life and career serving in various law enforcement positions throughout the state of New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his father, George C. Tafoya who passed away July 26, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Judith C. Forbes Tafoya; mother, Mary Ellen Tafoya-Tow and husband, R. Sam; four brothers and one sister, Ricky and wife, Tammy, Ronnie and wife, Alisa, Randy, Robbie, Rosemarie Marquez and husband, Art; six nephews, Ricky George, Ronnie George, Tyler Charles, Robert Wolfgang, Rio Harley, and Reno Jessy Tafoya; five nieces, Tammy Rogers, Selina Ohman, Jessica and Katrina Marquez, and Regan Tafoya; Judy's children, Joel Forbes and Megan Castillo and their children, Joel Jr. and Rachel Forbes and Aaliyah Castillo; numerous aunts; uncles; cousins; other family and friends who loved and will miss him. Services will be held on Friday, June 2, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Direct Funeral Services Chapel 2919 4th St. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87107 (three blocks north of Menaul on 4th St.) Private Internment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Garden In Las Cruces. Pallbearers will be brothers, Ricky, Randy, Ronnie, and Robbie; brother-in-law, Art and cousin, Genno Tafoya. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th St. NW, Alb. NM 87107 (505) 343-8008.
