SCHULICK -- Mathew F. Schulick passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at New Mexico Heart Hospital. He was born on February 20, 1928 in Albuquerque, to M.C. and Barbara Schulick. Mathew was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and John David; sister, Barbara Burks; and niece, Laura Miera. He is survived by his sister, Marjorie Wilder of Albuquerque; and brother, Charles. Mathew loved sports and as a youth he formed his own sand lot baseball team called the Golden Gophers and they played the Sawmill Tigers on a regular basis. He played on the basketball and baseball teams at Albuquerque High School and played American Legion baseball during his high school years. Mathew was a catcher for the Albuquerque Dukes and also played for several other pro teams. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and retired from the Wholesale Grocery Business after many years of service. Cremation has taken place and Ennichement of cremated remains will be held Wednesday, 1:00 p.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, with Pastor James Nelson officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Mathew's memory to either the National Kidney Foundation of New Mexico, 5736 Osuna Rd.
