CHAVEZ -- Luciano Chavez, 88, from Sedillo, NM, passed away on May 1, 2006. His wife of 70 years, Efigenia, "Effie" Chavez, preceded him in death by just six days. Luciano began his career as a coal miner in Madrid, Golden, San Antonio, and Gallup, NM. He spent most of his career as a coal miner in Sunnyside, UT. Leaving his mining career, he returned to New Mexico, where he retired from Sandia Labs in 1983. He is survived by his sons: Eliverio Chavez from Lubbock, TX; Feliciano Chavez and wife, Rosalinda from Sedillo, NM; and his daughter, Anna Ruiz from Albuquerque. He is also survived by grandchildren: Ben Ruiz, Michael Ruiz and wife, Karen, Daniel Luciano Chavez, Kyle Feliciano Chavez, and Eva Chavez. He is survived by two great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Nicholas Waseta. Visitation will take place Friday, May 5, 2006 from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Aspen Funeral Alternatives, 1935 Juan Tabo NE.
