RYAN -- Charles G. Ryan, 80, died Saturday, April 29, 2006, following a brief illness. Born October 5, 1925, in Silver City, NM, to Helen Chandler Ryan and Judge Raymond R. Ryan, he lived as a youth, and in the last 30 years, in Albuquerque. He married Alice Gass in 1953, and they lived during his career in hotel management in Albuquerque and in New York, New Orleans, Washington, D.C., and San Francisco. He served in the Korean War, and graduated from the University of Denver. For some years, he helped at St. John's Cathedral, first with floral arrangements and later at the church's thrift shop. Since his wife's death, he also enjoyed several road trips with his nephew, Richard. In addition to his wife Alice, he was predeceased by his brothers, Judge Joseph Ryan and Richard Ryan; nephew, Michael Lewis; niece, Ann Ryan. He is survived by nephew, Richard Ryan of Los Angeles; nieces Rebecca Almeter, of Albuquerque, Margaret Houlihan, of Novato, CA, and Karen Parrish, of Corrales; sister-in-law, Nancy Lewis, of Albuquerque. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at 2:00 p.m., at St. John's Episcopal Cathedral. The private Committal Service will follow at a later date.
