GATES -- Norma Lucille Putnam Gates, 83, passed away Monday, April 17, 2006. She was born July 1, 1922, a daughter of Israel Osgood and Clara Blueher Putnam. She often talked about her days as "Rosie the Riveter", during World War II. She welded trailers for military transport to support the War effort. She also drove a school bus for nearly 40 years. Survivors include two sons, Charles "Eddie" Gates and his wife, Sherry, Albuquerque, NM, Jerry Lee Gates, Albuquerque, NM. Also surviving are three grandsons, Jeremy, Justin and his wife, Kaitey, and Jonathan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Gates, and her parents. Graveside Services will be conducted Friday, April 21, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Cremation is under the direction of French Mortuary - Westside Chapel.
