ROMERO -- Lucy A. Sanchez Romero, passed away at age 85 in her home on Good Friday April 14th, 2006 at 8:10 a.m. Lucy was born in the small town of Horse Springs, New Mexico on March 15, 1921, born the oldest of nine children to Rafael B. Sanchez and Eduvijen Sanchez. Lucy is survived by five daughters and three sons, along with their spouses, Susan and Robert Devlahovich, Cordilia and Mike Quinn, Ramon and Aida Romero, Michael Romero, Marjie and Paul Serna, Irene & Guy Curtis, Lorraine and Manuel Grageda, Moses and Kimberly Romero; along with 27 beloved grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. Lucy was preceded by her husband, Ramon F. Romero. Lucy's family will always remember her as a beautiful loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who always put her family first. With the strong faith in GOD, she was a thoughtful, caring, sweet and loving person and we will all share fond and loving memories of our life with her. She will be in our hearts forever. A favorite poem of hers was "An Irish Prayer": May the road rise to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand. Lucy was a dedicated catholic and attended St. Thomas of Aquinas Catholic church where she enjoyed creating rosaries for others. A Rosary will be recited Monday, April 17, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at St. Thomas Aquinas, in Rio Rancho. Interment will take place at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery 7999 Wyoming Blvd., Albuquerque. A Reception will be held at the DeArco Reception hall next door to the church.
