MCKNIGHT -- Harvey Joseph (Cal) McKnight, 79, a resident of Albuquerque, died peacefully Thursday, April 6, 2006 at his home. Harvey is survived by his wife, Katie; sons, Patrick Alan, Michael Anthony, both of Albuquerque, J. Harvey and his wife, Marilyn and their children, Brian, Remy, and Melanie of Denver, CO, Robert Wayne and wife, Angela and their children, Taylor and Cole of Albuquerque and son, Rodney Glenn, of Albuquerque; daughter, Maureen Lindy Amato and her husband, Scott and their children, Marc, Sean, Rhiannon, Morgan and Gwen, all of Chigiak, AK; and many nieces and nephews. Harvey was born in Redlands, CA on May 22, 1926 the son of Joseph Harvey and Alice (Bishop) McKnight. He was raised in Grassy Lake, Alberta. Harvey joined the Canadian Army and served in World War II when he was 17 years old, but was discharged for being too young when his actual age was discovered. Being a dual-citizen, at the age of 23, he became an American citizen. Harvey then joined the American Army (5th Air Force) and served proudly in the Korean War as a member of Mosquitos (6147th Tactical Group-47ABS&TCG 53 A1C). Harvey married Katie Montoya on June 2, 1955 in Bosque Farms, NM and recently celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary. Harvey served in the US Air Force to the rank of T/SGT providing Minuteman missile maintenance and retired with his wife, Katie and family in 1971 in Albuquerque after 25 years of military service. Following retirement, Harvey went to Albuquerque TVI where he completed Electronics training. He then went to work for Mosler Safe Company installing and providing maintenance for bank security systems. Once Harvey retired from Mosler, he and his wife traveled to many parts of the world they both enjoyed. A Masonic Memorial Service will he held Friday, April 14, 2006, at 1:00 p.m., at the Shrine Ballut Abyad Center Auditorium, 6600 Zuni SE. The family has requested, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the Make A Wish Foundation of NM in the name of Harvey Joseph McKnight, 5301 Central NE, Suite 203, 87108.
