BARTHOLOMEW -- Mildred "Sami" Bartholomew, 75, a resident of Albuquerque, NM since 1987, died, Thursday, March 16, 2006 after a valiant fight against cancer. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Susan Bartholomew of Albuquerque; grandsons, Michael Bartholomew of Rochester, NY and Jacob Bartholomew of Albuquerque. Sami was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Tessie Capuano, and her brother, John Capuano. Sami was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY by Italian immigrant parents. She left Brooklyn after high school and worked at a variety of jobs including banking, the hotel industry, as a stewardess for Capitol Airways, owner/operator of a pizza restaurant, manager of a service station, and automobile exporter. She traveled and lived all over the world including Italy, Pakistan, Japan, Hawaii, and Guam, eventually settling in New Mexico to be close to her family and help raise her two grandsons. In Albuquerque, she last worked at Sam's Club and at the law firm of Susan C. Little & Associates. Sami's main love was for family and friends. She doted over her grandsons and her dogs. Sami had a wealth of friends whom she loved to spend time with and treated first time acquaintances as if she had known them for years. She was big on giving hugs and had a great sense of humor. She loved to cook and had a passion for her work and for politics. Sami lived her life to the fullest and on her own terms. She will not be easily forgotten and will be missed. Services will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2006, 2:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Westside Chapel. A reception will follow at the mortuary.
