HARRIS -- Jay Dee Harris, 82, passed away on March 8, 2006. Mr. Harris was born on September 22, 1923 in Osage, OK to Jewel and Dwight Harris. He married Velma Bennett on September 23, 1945 and served in the Navy from July 27, 1942 until January 4, 1946. In 1951, he made a profession of faith and joined Capital Hills Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, OK. At the time of his death, he was a member of Hoffmantown Church. Mr. Harris worked as a newspaper pressman until retirement from the Denver Post in 1986, and then moved to Albuquerque in 1994. He is survived by his wife, Velma; three daughters, Paula Avery and husband, Rod, Katherine Brodie and husband, Rick, and Sharon Harris; three grandsons, Daniel Brodie and wife, Tina, Michael Scott Brodie and wife, Jennifer, Steven Brodie and wife Ashley; three great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation for Mr. Harris will be from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 12 at Chapel of Sunrise, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Albuquerque. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 13, 2006, also at Chapel of Sunrise, with Pastor Ken Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
