EASLEY -- Mack Easley, 89, died Wednesday, March 1, 2006 in Albuquerque, NM. He was born on October 14, 1916 to John Robert and Mary Ellen Easley in Tallequa, OK. He and his wife, Loyce Ann Rogers Easley, established residence in Hobbs, NM in 1947 after Mr. Easley graduated from the University of Oklahoma Law School. In addition to his private law practice Mr. Easley became an Assistant District Attorney. Later he was elected to the NM House of Representatives, served five terms and was elected by his peers as the Speaker of the House. Mr. Easley was next elected Lt. Governor and served for two terms with Governor Jack Campbell. After returning to Hobbs, he became the new State Senator from that District, served one term and chaired the Senate Democratic Caucus Committee. At the completion of his term in the Senate he was appointed, then successfully ran for District Judge. In 1975 Governor Jerry Apodoca appointed Judge Easley to the State Supreme Court where he was elected to a second term and retired in 1982 as Chief Justice. His wife, Loyce Ann Easley, of 63 years became a renowned artist. He was preceded in death by his parents, 12 bothers and sisters, and his wife. He is survived by two children June Elizabeth Hudson and her husband, James T. Hudson; his son, Roger Easley and his wife, Linda Mary Easley; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday, March 6, 2006 at Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 10:30 a.m. with internment to follow at 2:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. Friends may visit on Sunday, March 5, 2006 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel.
