DOMINGUEZ -- Thomas A. Dominguez, 84, resident of Albuquerque since 1953, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2006. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Zelma; son, Lee Robert; brothers, Sam and George; sisters, Josie, Lita, Minnie, Margaret, and Lorenza. Thomas spent his early years working for the Civilian Conservation Corps as a truck driver. He joined the New Mexico National Guard and from there spent the next five years serving in the Army during World War II with the 804 Tank Destroyer Battalion, Company B, where he received the Bronze Star and Silver Star for saving the life of a fellow soldier. After his honorable discharge in 1945, he went and received training at the Universal Plumbing School in Kansas City, Missouri. Thomas worked as a plumber, gas and pipe fitter for various companies. He was a union member of UA Local 412 for 50 years. Thomas has been a past delegate of the NM AFL-CIO, donated his services to the Ronald McDonald House and the Heats-On Program. He was a member of the VFW Post 1793. Since his retirement, his main joy was fishing with his buddies from the Bear Canyon Fishing Club. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, 924 Menaul NE.
