COLLINS -- Andrea Georgia Alires Collins passed into eternal life on Sunday, February 12, 2006 after a long and courageous life. Andrea was born May 17, 1929, the daughter of Salomon and Ida Maestas Alires in Las Vegas, NM. She was a loving wife, nurturing mother, and wonderful and loyal friend to all who had the pleasure of her company. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones and friends all of whom were touched by her infectious laugh and joyous smile. Andrea was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Collins; her sons, Dr. Thomas Collins and Randy Collins; her brothers, Salomon and Dan Alires. She is survived by her children, Ray Collins and wife, Cathy, JoAnn Sanchez and her husband, Tony, Donna Collins and Fluffy, Gary Collins, Gerald Collins and his wife, Jeanne; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Collins; and her sister, Alice Maestas. She is also survived by a tremendous legacy of loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Andrea's special caretakers at Rio Rancho Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their compassionate care and friendship. A Celebration of Andrea's life will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ, 3100 La Orilla Rd. NW, Albuquerque, NM. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, February 20, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, New Mexico, with interment to follow immediately after at the Mt.
