ROHRER -- Robert A. (Bobby) Rohrer died suddenly December 31, 2005 in a car accident in Mexico. Born January 3, 1942 in Chicago, IL, Bobby came to Albuquerque in 1953 when his father took a position with Sandia National Laboratories. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Frances Rohrer; his sister, Jane Riggle; and niece, Elizabeth (Lisa) Runnels, all of Albuquerque. He is survived by his daughters, Kelli Rohrer-Davis and Liana Rohrer; his granddaughter, Danika Davis; and former wife, Judy Rohrer, all of Arlington, TX; by his son, Douglas Rohrer and daughter-in-law, Barbara Rohrer and granddaughter, Laura Rohrer, of Cheyenne, WY. Also by his nephew, Larry Riggle Jr.; cousins, Rosalie Rayburn and Patrick Reilly of Albuquerque; and cousins, Robert M., Catherine, and Robert G. Rayburn of Broomfield, CO, and Tina Garrison of Evanston, IL. Bobby was a graduate of Sandia High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he saw active duty during the Cuban missile crisis of the early 1960s. After the Navy, he pursued a career in the commercial and residential construction industry in New Mexico, Colorado, Iowa, and Texas. He was an avid balloonist and played an active role in the early years of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. He loved the outdoors, fishing, and sailing. In recent years, he was finally able to realize a lifelong dream to crew on sailboats in the Caribbean, and the coasts of Mexico and California. He was returning home from several months of sailing at the time of his death. Bobby grasped life with both hands and lived it uncompromisingly to the fullest. He was a man with a heart of gold, a loving father, a caring son, and a loyal and generous friend. Warm winds, Bobby - - you will be missed. Memorial Service Saturday, February 4, 2006 at 2:00 p.m., Church of the Good Shepherd, 7834 Tennyson NE, Albuquerque, NM 87122. Reception following at the home of Rosalie Rayburn.
