MATHEWS -- Jane E. Mathews, 87, a resident of Albuquerque for 47 years, died Thursday, February 2, 2006. She is survived by her husband of sixty-four years, Paul T. Mathews; sons, Richard Mathews and wife, Patricia of Durham, NC, Gregory Mathews and wife, Susan of Milwaukee, WI, and Timothy Mathews and wife Judy of Edgewood, NM; seven grandchildren, Anita, Christopher, and Katie Mathews, Jason Mathews, Lisa Casanova, Amber and Osha Posich; great-grandchildren, Sean Mathews, Chelsea Casanova, and Janette and Brianna Lacefield; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Thorne. Jane was born on July 23, 1918 in Pierre, SD to Glen Lester and Mayme Rebecca Thorne. She married Paul Mathews on May 31, 1941 in Mason City, IA. They moved to Albuquerque in 1958. Jane spent most of her life taking care of her husband and family but worked as manager of the cafeteria at Van Buren Junior High School for eleven years. She was a long-time member of Hope Evangelical Free Church. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Services will be held at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE Saturday, February 4, 2006, 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Gary Hamburger officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Friday, February 3, 2006 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Evangelical Free Church, 4710 Juan Tabo Blvd. NE, 87111.
