LOCKWOOD -- Sam L. Lockwood Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, finished his journey in life and went home to the LORD on January 31, 2006, at the age of 66. He is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife of 46 years, Jo Ann; son, Sam III, wife, Sheryn, grandchildren, Shayna, Sam IV, and Moriah; son, Scott, granddaughter, Sydne'; son, Shawn, wife, Danielle, grandchildren, Kassie and Kylan, all of Albuquerque. Sam was born in 1939 in Brownsville, TX. While in high school, he met the love of his life, Jo Ann Mayfield. Sam and Jo Ann were married in 1959 and moved to Lubbock, TX, where Sam attended Texas Tech University. After the death of his father in 1965, Sam and his family moved back to the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas. Sam took a job with the Boy Scouts of America, moved to Corpus Christi, and was subsequently transferred to Albuquerque, where he became a District Executive. After many years of service to the Boy Scouts, he went to work for Executone Information Systems Inc. Sam took great pride and satisfaction in helping others, and found his calling in life in his work for Electric Mobility, selling Rascal Scooters. In 1990, Sam was diagnosed with his first bout of cancer. Had it not been for the help of Dr. Barbara McAneny, Sam would not have enjoyed the additional fifteen happy, productive years with church, friends and family. Sam was also an active member at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, where he served as Lay Leader as well as on several committees and also an active member and past president of the New Mexico Toy Train Operating Society. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 9500 Constitution Ave. NE in Albuquerque, on Monday, February 6, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers a donation may be sent to the New Mexico Cancer Center Foundation, 4901 Lang Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109.
